what is the absolute cheapest pay as you go plan/phone for only text messages.

instead of adding text messages for $$$ a month, just to buy a cheaper extra phone and use it for text messaging

I’ve been looking at mobiles and i found one that said:

‘Vodafone Pre-Pay Mobile Phone’

Does this mean that you will be tied to vodafone and you can’t put any other sim card in the phone. Or that it just comes with a vodaphone sim card. Also the phone that said that, is a lot cheaper than the other one that doesn’t say it.
I know that it means pay as you go, but can you put another pay as you go sim card in the phone and it will still work.

From your description , it looks like it is a regular prepaid phone from/thru the company Vodafone ….I don’t think you can change the sim cards but I can be wrong. You might want to google it and call the comp # and ask. I hope this info can help you =)

What’s the cheapest pay-as-you go phone?

Most seem to have activation fees which last for 1-2 years or minutes expire, etc. I need one just for my son when he is away from me and I am not ready to sign him up for anything. It may just be something we need to use a couple of times a year until he gets older. So it is something I want to toss in a drawer when not in need and pull out two months later and use it if I want.
I really thought I could get a phone for $20-30 and cards to use as needed but now I see they expire?

Any suggestions?

I used to work for a wireless Kiosk at Wal-Mart. They have plenty of Pay-as-you-go phones. The problem is that what you’re wanting to use it for may not be cost effective since you have to add minutes every 30-90 days whether you have minutes or not.

Some of the better options are Cingular, Verizon, NET 10 and, depending on where you are in the country, Virgin Mobile.

Cingular has a few perks. There are two payment plans to choose from with no activation fees. The first plan offers free Cingular to Cingular calling and is 10 cents per minute for all non-Cingular calls. The second plan is a flat rate of 25 cents per minute for all calls.

Verizon has the most features, but is one of the more expensive. The perk is that all Verizon calls are free, plus pre-paid customers get free nights (but not weekends) starting at 9 p.m.

NET 10 gives you the most minutes for your money, having all calls at 10 cents a minute. My best friend is on NET 10 and it completely satisfied.

Virgin Mobile tends to be a good "first-time" phone, the only problem is that it’s on the Sprint network. Depening on where you are in the country, Sprint may or may not be the best for you. Virgin Mobile has a great monthly package that treats your phone like a contract phone without a contract.

Once again, these prepaid companies require you to purchase and add minutes every 30-90 days depending on how many minutes you previously purchased. Also, these specs might have changed so talk to a sales rep before making your final decision. Hope this helped!

The phones are cheaper if you buy them at tescos, but I wouldnt want to keep it with tescos SIM, because its quite expensive. My friend said that she was planning to do this, but her other sim wouldn’t work. Is there another way around it, or is it just if you buy from tescos, you have to keep the tescos SIM?

Cheap phones are normally locked to a network (to recover the subsidy). The network will provide an unlock code for a price or you may find one on t’internet by googling the phone model and unlock

my150x came w. a number for voicemail, I changed it to divert to home but now want to use the phones voicemail for answerphone on the go. What is Sagem UK’s answerphone number please? Can’t go back to defaults because it won’t accept the accounts code I was given when registering it.

i don’t know the sagem number but on ANY phone on ANY network press & hold 1 to go to voicemail and 0 to go on the internet.
